These lessons are open to all ages + genders and are a valuable way to experience skateboarding in a supportive, fun, and safe environment. Lessons are conducted by the founder of Kateboards. Kate has a passion for skating and has been on wheels since she was a kid. She is ready to meet you where you are on your skate journey and excited to assist you in your pursuits!
Focus for lessons: for you to feel comfortable and encouraged through the process of learning to skateboard. We focus on the fundamentals of skateboarding including: balance (on and off the board), proper weight distribution, proper kick/push technique, and getting comfortable with kick turns. The goal with these lessons is for you to have a solid foundation to enjoy skateboarding and progress with good habits. Intermediate lessons are available as well with a focus on learning basic tricks and finessing skills.
We learn and experience so much through skateboarding: balance, agility, persistence, resilience & presence, camaraderie, joy, freedom, self-expression, individuality, community, and friendships… to name a few. When we skateboard we have to be aware of ourselves + our surroundings, we have to be focused + committed. With these lessons, and with Kateboards as a whole, we want you to harness the courage it takes to get involved in skateboarding and apply the confidence you gain from it to other areas of your life.

Pricing - Please Venmo “Kateboards” the day of your lesson.
Private Beginner/Intermediate Lesson: $65/hour
Semi-Private Lesson for 2 people: $55 each/hour (regardless of age) ($110 total)
45 Minute Lesson (great for little ones <10 years old or if you want an abbreviated lesson): $50

Payment: “Kateboards” via Venmo. You will see the Kateboards logo.
Required: helmet/pads. Reach out to info@kateboards.com if you’d like suggestions on what pads to get.
Where to Meet: Encinitas Skate Park 425 Santa Fe Dr, Encinitas, CA 92024 We will meet in the grass just east of the skatepark (in between the freeway and the skatepark).
