These introductory lessons are a valuable way to experience skateboarding in a supportive, fun, and safe environment. Lessons are conducted by the founder of Kateboards. Kate has been on wheels since she was a kid and has a passion for making skateboarding more approachable and inclusive. She has been teaching private lessons in Encinitas for 7 years. She is ready to meet you where you are on your skate journey and excited to help you feel comfortable on your board!

Focus for lessons: for you to feel comfortable and encouraged through the process of learning to skateboard. We focus on the fundamentals of skateboarding including: balance (on and off the board), proper weight distribution, proper kick/push technique, and how to comfortably slow down + brake. The goal is for you to have a solid foundation to enjoy skateboarding and progress with good habits.

Skateboarding gives us the opportunity to be present with ourselves, and our environment. It is a healthy outlet to enjoy life more and connect with ourselves + others. With these lessons, and with Kateboards as a whole, we want to help you harness the courage it takes to get involved in skateboarding and apply the confidence + joy you gain from it to other areas of your life.

My goal is to have you leave the lesson with a smile on your face and feeling more comfortable in your skateboarding abilities.

In the message please share who will be taking the lesson, 2-3 dates/times that work for you, and if you have any other questions. You will get a response within 24 hours with more details. Lessons are for adults, and kids > 10 years old. Group lessons are available as well, please inquire for details.

Pricing for Private Lesson: $75/hour (to be paid day of the lesson)

*please note there is a $25 cancellation fee if lesson is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice
